Eastern Volleyball Program History
Eastern University Volleyball has a rich tradition of excellence. Under the direction of head coach Mark Birtwistle, the Eagles have enjoyed 16 straight winning seasons. As 14-year members of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC), Eastern dominated that conference with 13 title game appearances and 10 consecutive conference championships. From 1999-2007, the Eagles did not lose a match in the PAC putting together a 101 consecutive match win streak. Now as a 2-year member of the Freedom Conference, the Eagles have won back-to-back titles in 2008 and 2009 and continue to remain unbeaten in 17 tries.
Eastern has earned 12 All-Americans honors, 18 Mid-Atlantic All-Region players, and 65 All-Conference players. The Eagles have claimed thirteen consecutive conference "Players of the Year." Twelve Eagles were named the Conference championship match MVP, five were Mid-Atlantic Region "Freshmen of the Year," and 71 players were were at one point the conference Player of the Week.
