ST. DAVIDS, Pa.- On the eve of the first NCAA Tournament game in Eastern University Men's Lacrosse team history, Director of Athletics Brad Fields made official what many knew was coming for a long time. Head Coach Coach Kevin Wallace, who was hired on an interim basis in September, will no longer carry the interim tag. In addition to his lacrosse duties, Wallace will continue to serve as the department's Coordinator of recruiting and retention for all programs.

"For the past eight months," Fields stated, "Kevin has displayed the many reasons he is a perfect fit for us. He is a talented lacrosse coach who refuses to accept anything less than a constant pursuit of excellence. In addition, he is a team-player and a class act. He has approached his other duties in the department with the same sense of pride and drive for success that he does with his lacrosse responsibilities."

Under Wallace, the Eagles won a pair of Conference Championship games this spring and have already won a school-record 13 games. He had served as a defensive coordinator as a graduate assistant to Brandon Childs, and his fall was complicated by his student teaching. Wallace, nonetheless, was able to put together a strong and cohesive staff and a very productive fall season in preparation for the first year of the Freedom Conference.

The Eagles, who featured three new starters on defense, picked up early non-league wins over Messiah and Ursinus and ran through the Freedom Conference schedule without a blemish. All the while, Wallace and his staff worked to recruit a talented group of 2012 prospects and grow a list of 2013 prospects even while carrying the interim tag.

This past Saturday, the Eagles became the final MAC Lacrosse Champions and secured the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. They will play at Cabrini on Wednesday at 6:30. While the decision to lift the interim tag had been made well-before that historic win. The necessary processes had to be worked through to make things official.

"Kevin is a strong man of faith," Fields concludes," who is dedicated to the total development of his student-athletes. He sincerely cares for the welfare of his young men and I am truly excited to watch him and our program continue to grow. There is not a better person to lead Eastern Lacrosse and to play a crucial role in the overall success of our athletic family."
