Maggie McGowan was tied for the team lead with 14 doubles. Her on base plus slugging (OPS) was well over 1000 for the season.

STARKVILLE, Miss.- The National Fast-Pitch Coaches Association released its Division III Softball All-Region lists. The Association recognized Eastern University senior shortstop Maggie McGowan as a Third Team All-East Region pick for the 2012 season.

McGowan, the Eastern career-record holder for home runs and runs scored, scored 37 times in the 2012 campaign and led the Eagles to a school-record 21 win season. She joined teammate Janelle Fair to become the first two Eastern University hitters to reach 50 hits in a season. McGowan recorded exactly 50 with 21 of those going for extra bases.

Her .365 average was tops on the Eastern roster, and for the second straight year she drove in 34 runs. McGowan, who also pitched for the Eagles, scored 93 times in her career and is second on the career list with 109 RBIs. Her career slugging percentage of .566 puts her second on the Eastern career list and she finishes tied for third in career hits with 137.

The Eagles reached the Freedom Conference Championship Tournament for the first time in the four years that the team has been in the league, and they scored just over five runs a game. McGowan and Fair were named to the Freedom Conference 1st Team.
