Eagles Shorten Times At Lehigh
More than 5,000 runners across three high school and college divisions run at the Paul Short Invitational.
In the Eastern's meets, Eastern women's team took 17th of 34 teams while the men took 28th of 36. Both teams improved their placement significantly compared to last year's Paul Short Invitational. Last year Eastern men finished 39th and Eastern women finished 30th.
Easten's Josey Rupert finished 39th overall with a 24:46 in the 6k run. She trimmed her time down from last year's 26:21. Katrina Schmid finished in the top 100 with a time of 26:19, good for 93rd place and nearly a minute faster than last year. Jaclyn Helton cut her time from 27:29 to 26:47 and Martha Mackey whittled her time down to 27:33 from 28:56 last season.
Colin Gordon paced the Eagles on the men's side, finishing 103rd with a time of 28:48. Caleb Fitzgerald finished next for Eastern, coming in 110th with a 29:04 time. Both Gordon and Fitzgerald led the Eagles at this meet last season, but with slower times. Gordon and Fitzgerald had run the 8k at 29:26 and 30:08 last season.
The Eagles have three meets remaining before the MAC championships. Their next event is at Messiah College on Oct. 6 starting at 10:30 a.m.
