Young Softball Squad Ready for 2013

Eastern Softball 2013 Preview from EU Athletics on Vimeo.

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.-Eastern University Softball reached the Freedom Conference Tournament for the first time in 2012.

While Eastern returns the Freedom Conference Pitcher of the Year in Janelle Fair, the Eagles will rely on a very young squad to support their senior star. Fair won 15 games in 2012. She is within two and a third innings of a school record for innings pitched. With 30 career wins, 323 career strikeouts, and a career batting average above .360,  Fair stands as a strong center-piece to build around.  Only three other players on the 2013 roster have any college experience.

Head Coach Brittany Stroop, in her fourth year at the helm of the Eastern program, is optimistic that her young squad will transition to the college game. The Eagles open their season in Myrtle Beach, S.C.. Eastern opens its home and Freedom Conference schedule against Manhattanville on March 16.
