ABBOTSFORD, Pa.- Eastern University Men's Golf opened the spring portion of its campaign with high expectations at the Bridges Golf Club in an invitational hosted by Gettysburg College.

The expectations for the year are still high, but today was not a great day on the golf course for the Eastern squad.

With the 6713 yard course still wet and recovering from winter, the Eagles shot a 381. Ryan Torresin scuffled to a 90 and Logan Maurer shot a 93. David DiPirro carded a 98 and Ben Dutcher shot 100.

"It was really difficult to know what was going to happen on the greens," said head coach Mark Birtwistle stated. "It was cold and windy, but you really coud not roll it on the greens very well. We saw a three-putt from five feet."

Birtwistle added that while the scores were higher than where they wanted them to be, the field also posted high scores. Messiah College won the Invitational with a 330. The Eagles finished 13th of 15 competing teams.

The two Eastern programs host an Invitational at White Manor Country Club this Monday.
