Offense Abounds; Eagles Fall to Fords
The Fords had nearly all the ball in the opening five minutes, and they built a 10-0 lead before the Eagles had the ball for the second time.
Once the Eagles were able to secure a draw control, the offense began to work. Sara Blaylock found Victoria Graham cutting toward the crease and Graham powered home her first of three goals on the afternoon.
The Fords answered with two more goals before the Eagles put together their best offensive stretch of the season with five unanswered goals in a five minute stretch to close the gap to 12-6 with 11 minutes to play in the half. Julia Furniss and Graham each had two goals in the stretch. Blaylock scored the other goal.
The Fords scored four of the final goals of the first half to lead 16-7 at the intermission. The lead very closely mirrored Haverford's 17-7 edge in draw controls.
Haverford's Meghan Gallagher opened the second half with her fourth goal of the afternoon. Furniss responded with her third goal of the afternoon before the Fords stretched the Haverford lead to 20-8 with 20 minutes to play.
Hannah Morgan led the Fords with five goals. Perrin Downing and Dayna Kim each had four assists.
Angalena Malavenda had two goals and Lauren Solazzo added her first for the year for the final Eastern goals.
Eastern goalie Cortney Andes made 13 stops.
