Torresin Medals at Home Invitational

Ryan Torresin lags a putt from the fringe on the 211-yard par-3 14th at White Manor. Torresin parred the hole.

MALVERN, Pa.- Eastern University Men's Golf finished second by two strokes in a home invitational at White Manor Country Club. The invitational which was originally scheduled in March and moved to today because of snow, was scaled back from its original size, but good weather and a great course made for a good day. Eastern's Ryan Torresin earned medalist honors with a steady 77.

PSU-Abington emerged with a two-stroke victory over the nearly 6,700 yard par-71 layout. Bobby Crawford shot a 78 to pace the Lions. Cabrini and Widener completed the field.

Torresin made his round with 12 pars and six bogeys. Earlier today the freshman was named Freedom Conference Golfer of the Week by the Middle Atlantic Conference office.

Ben Dutcher finished with an 83. He had a great round going, but a ball in the water on his approach to the par-5 17th led to a costly double bogey. He had two birdies of the afternoon. Logan Maurer shot a 41 on the front side but struggled on the way in for an 89, and Billy Jackson carded a 94 for the final element of Eastern's score. The short par-3 eighth proved to be Jackson's biggest challenge of the day. Jackson's seven was not the worst score of the day on the 144-yard hole over water. Only three players in the field made par on the hole, and there were as many others as there were bogeys.

The Eagles are back in action at the Messiah Invitational tomorrow before competing in the Freedom Conference Championships this weekend.
