No. 13 Eagles Sweep Wilkes
The Eagles crunched the Colonels 25-13 and 25-8 in the first two sets and held them off 25-23 in the third set.
Eastern hit .264 as a team and held Wilkes to .010 for the match.
Outside hitters Kearby Benak and Lauren Sproles each recorded 11 kills in the win.
Benak also served five of Eastern's 11 aces.
After cruising through the first two sets, Eastern had to buckle down at the end of the third set. The Eagles have not lost a set to a Freedom Conference opponent since joining the league in 2008. This was the closest conference set the Eagles have had since Oct. 13, 2010, when a set went 26-24 in the Eagles' favor against Misericordia.
Eastern hosts a MAC Crossover Tournament on Saturday. They will play No. 20 Stevenson University at 10 a.m. and Messiah College at 4 p.m.
