Three Advance To Quarterfinals

Jenna Laubach won her first singles match 5-7, 7-5, 10-8.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa.--Eastern Women's Tennis participated in the MAC Individual Championship on Saturday. 

Eastern's No. 1, Jenna Laubach, No. 2 Megan Klosterman and No. 5 Elaine Grazulis all advanced into the second round of the tournament.

Laubach edged Elizabethtown's Christie Evangelista in a 5-7, 7-5, 10-8 marathon. Laubach then ran into the second-ranked player in her bracket, who had a first round bye. Laubach fell to Wilkes' Allison Kristofco 6-0, 6-0.

Klosterman won her opening match 6-3, 6-2, but like Laubach, had to face the second-ranked player in the flight coming off of a bye-round. Klosterman too was swept 6-0, 6-0 in the second round.

Grazulis took down Hood's Aubrey Fetters 6-1, 5-7, 10-8 but was knocked out in the second round 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles play, the Eagles' No. 1 flight of Laubach and Klosterman had match point, up seven games to six, but were unable to convert and lost in a tiebreaker 9-8 (7-2).

The individual tournament concludes the tennis team's intercollegiate competition for the fall. Mark your calendars for March 18 when the Eagles return to the court against Alvernia University.
