CENTER VALLEY, Pa.--Both Eastern Cross Country teams finished in 12th place overall Saturday at the DeSales University Invitational in a race that contained a mix of Division II and III teams.

Eastern's Josey Rupert led the women's team with a 24:06.30. Rupert was the sixth female runner to cross the finish line, but the top two finishers ran independently and did not place, giving Rupert fourth place. Rupert was also the first to finish from the Middle Atlantic Conference.

Adrienne Borrelli came in second for the Eagles with a 25:35.39 time. Stephanie Hogan came in at third with a 26:52.18. Alyssa Schenzle and Alyssa Schock finished in Eastern's fourth and fifth spots. Schenzle cut 40 seconds off her time since her last meet.

In the men's 8k,  Eastern's Jon Combies bounced back from a slower run at the Paul Short Invitational last week to lead the Eagles this week. Combies cut more than four minutes off his time, placing 43rd overall with a time of 28:20.13. Nicholas Trombley followed 10 seconds later, and Colin Gordon finished nine seconds after Trombley.

The Eagles will compete at the Haverford Invitational on Oct. 25. This shorter race will be three miles for the women and four for the men and will serve as a tune up before the MAC Championships which will be back at DeSales on Nov. 2.
