CENTER VALLEY, Pa.—Both Eastern Cross Country teams showed improvement from last year with strong showings at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships at DeSales University on Saturday and for the first time had players finish on the MAC All-Conference teams.

Eastern Men’s Cross Country improved to eighth place, advancing two places since last year. Eastern Women’s Cross Country moved up to seventh from eighth last year and had two runners on the All-Conference teams. Eastern’s Josey Rupert made the first team and Adrienne Borrelli second team.

Rupert finished fifth overall with a time of 23:48. Borrelli came in at 18th with a 24:50 time.

The Eagles had just run this course at the DeSales Invitational on Oct. 12. Since their last time there, Rupert trimmed 18 seconds from her time and Borrelli 45 seconds.

Eastern Women’s Cross Country finished with a cumulative time of 2:10:32. The top team, Elizabethtown came in at 1:59:36.

Eagles head coach Mike Wilson said that the women’s team made a great leap in the standings and that he sees vying for a spot in the top four teams in the near future. The Eagles had PR days from Steph Hogan and Alyssa Schock to pick up valuable points in the third and fourth spots. “Overall, it was an awesome day for the women,” Wilson said.

The Men’s team was led by top-50 finishes by Nicholas Trombley and Colin Gordon. Trombley finished 41st overall with a 28:35.97 time. Greg Coghill ran a PR to come in the fifth and final scoring spot for the Eagles.

The Eagles will participate in the NCAA regionals at Lehigh University on Nov. 16. The last women’s meet at Lehigh was canceled because of excessive heat, but that will unlikely be a factor in this upcoming meet.
