Eastern's Josey Rupert broke her own school record on Saturday and became the first Eagle to make the cross country All-Region team.

BETHLEHEM, Pa.--Eastern Cross Country wrapped up their season with a strong finish at the NCAA Mid-East Regionals held at Lehigh University. Eagles' junior Josey Rupert set a school record for the women's 6K and also became the first Eastern Cross Country runner in school history to make the All-Region team.

Rupert finished with a time of 22:19, more than a minute faster than her personal best. Her previous best of 23:33 was the old school record. Rupert placed 33rd of 358 runners and the top 35 runners at the meet were named to the All-Region squad.

Sophomore Adrienne Borrelli finished in what is now the second-fastest time in school history, finishing at 23:20. Stephanie Hogan, Alyssa Schock and Kasia Thomas finished out the scoring for Eastern's Women's team. They all set personal bests as well, trimming around two minutes off their previous best times. The Eagles finished 24th overall out of 52 teams. The total time of their top five finishers was 2:01:36 compared to 2:13:10 a season ago.

Eastern's Women had not seen this course yet this season. The last time they went to the Lehigh University course, their meet had been canceled because of excessive heat. On Saturday, the race conditions were unseasonably mild, helping make it a great day overall for the meet.

Eastern's Men's team was led by sophomore Aaron Reed who finished the 8K with a time of 27:46. His previous personal best was 28:19. Colin Gordon finished one second behind Reed, setting his own personal best at 27:47. Nicholas Trombley took third for the Eagles with a personal best of 28:12. Jon Combies and Jesse Martinez rounded out the scoring for the Eagles. The Eagles overall time of 2:22:24 was almost six minutes faster than their time last season of 2:28:16. Eastern Men's team finished 33rd of  54 teams.

Eagles' head coach Mike Wilson was pleased with the steady improvement he saw from both teams this season and sees a lot of potential for next season. Wilson said that Rupert still has a small chance to be selected to race in the NCAA National Championship as an individual runner.
