WESTMINSTER, Md.--Eastern Men's Basketball went to overtime for the second time this season, but couldn't run away from the McDaniel College Green Terror, dropping Saturday's non-conference game 74-72.

Eastern junior Anthony Parenti scored a game-high 25 points while going 10-for-15 from the floor. Eagles' guard Malcolm Garrison added 15 points, and forward Jimmie Willis contributed 11 points and nine rebounds. McDaniel had five players score in double-figures. Forward Tim Stewart netted a team-high 13 points in 20 minutes of action.

The Eagles' hot shooting helped them establish a lead for most of the game, but a scoring drought in the game's final minutes allowed the Green Terror to catch up and send the game into overtime.

Both teams traded baskets in the game's first five minutes, but the Eagles jumped ahead with a 19-3 run started by a Caleb Knudsen three-point play and capped off by a Parenti jumpshot that gave Eastern a 28-13 lead. Eastern finished the first half shooting 57.1 percent from the floor and led 39-33 by halftime.

Eastern never trailed in the second half and led by nine with three minutes remaining in regulation, but McDaniel went on a 9-0 run to send the game to overtime. Ben Connor's layup with 3:16 to play in regulation was the Eagles' only field goal in the game's final eight minutes.

Down by four with 33 seconds to play in overtime, Eastern cut the gap to two points with a layup by Anthony Parenti.

The Eagles fouled McDaniel's Wesley Brooks after the inbounds, and both of Brooks' free throws rimmed out. Willis took the rebound for Eastern and gave Eastern the chance for one final play. After an Eastern timeout with eight seconds to play, Garrison had a look at a mid-range jumper, but unfortunately for the Eagles, his shot did not fall.

The Eagles will get a chance to bounce back quickly. Wednesday marks the beginning of conference play for Eastern. The Eagles will travel to Manhattanville College for an 8 p.m. matchup.
