Eagles Hold Cairn To Two Runs In Sweep

Alyssa Welsh devastated Cairn's lineup on Wednesday, striking out 10 batters in game one.

LANGHORNE, Pa.--Eastern Softball improved to 13-10 with a pair of wins over the Cairn University Highlanders on Wednesday.

The Eagles shut out the Highlanders 5-0 in game one and then had a 5-run margin in game two as well, winning 7-2.

Eagles' starting pitcher Alyssa Welsh dominated the Highlanders in game one, striking out 10 batters and walking none en route to the complete game shut out.

Haleigh Williams won game two, pitching five innings, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five batters. Ashton Tomlinson pitched two innings in relief, striking out one batter and allowing one hit and no runs.

Williams also batted 3-for-3 in the second game.

The Eagles collected 10 hits in game one and another 11 hits in game two.

Tomlinson had a big two-RBI triple in the fifth inning of game two to help put the game out of reach.

Eastern will play a single game on Friday at Swarthmore College and then will host King's College on Saturday for a conference doubleheader.
