Eagles Fight Off Cougars For Conference Win

Landon Walter improved to 10-1 in singles matches this season.

DALLAS, Pa.—Eastern Men’s Tennis knocked down the Misericordia University Cougars 8-1 on Monday afternoon and earned its first Freedom Conference win of the season.

The Eagles held off the Cougars in the first two doubles flights 8-5, 8-6, but dropped the third doubles flight 8-5.

Dan Fowler and Landon Walter showed their resiliency in winning three-set matches in singles play. Fowler won 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 while Walter won 6-4, 1-6, 6-4. Walter, playing his first match as the No. 3 singles player, is now 10-1 this season in singles matches.

The Eagles (7-7, 1-4 Freedom) play at West Chester University on Thursday and complete their season on Saturday against King’s College.
