Eagles Hold Lead After Round One

Andrew Barbin Jr. leads everyone in the Freedom Conference Championship with a 77 on day one.

HERSHEY, Pa.--Eastern Men's Golf holds onto a two-stroke lead after the first day of the Freedom Conference Championship at Hershey Country Club.

The Eagles shot  337 (+53) on the 6,551 yard, par-71 course to finish two strokes ahead of DeSales University on day one. 

Eagles' freshman Andrew Barbin Jr. is alone on top of the leaderboard with a 77 and teammate Ryan Torresin is close behind with an 80 (tied for second).Barbin Jr. tallied three birdies in the opening round. Eagles' head coach Mark Birtwistle said that Barbin's putting was on today, helping him keep his score low.

The Eagles will look to defend their spot on top when they play the final round of the championship on Sunday. The Eagles will tee-off from hole 10 on Sunday starting at 9:20 a.m.
